SUPERVISOR ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF THE

TOWN OF RIVERHEAD 2015 SENIOR CITIZEN RESOURCE GUIDE

June 3, 2015

Riverhead, NY – Supervisor Sean Walter is pleased to announce that the First Edition of the 2015 Senior Citizen Resource Guide has been published and is now available to all Town of Riverhead residents.  This resource guide has been printed as a service to our community providing a comprehensive collection of resources geared towards the needs of our seniors and their caregivers.

The 2015 Senior Citizen Resource Guide will serve as a vital tool for the town’s senior citizen population ultimately improving their quality of life by easing the challenges they or their loved ones may be experiencing.   It is designed to provide an easy reference to a wide variety of information.  Specifically, it will include programs and services that will assist in locating federal, state and local resources that address areas of need, often at little or no cost.  The guide will be updated periodically in order to provide our seniors with the most current information.

“It is my sincere pleasure to serve our town’s senior population who has, over the years, made our town such a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Walter.  “Our seniors are among our most valuable populations - we value them for their knowledge, wisdom and expertise.  It is my hope that this resource guide will help make their lives a little easier.”

Supervisor Walter reminds us that the most difficult time to assess a need and investigate resources is in the midst of a crisis. It takes time and energy to research services, whether researching on the web, at the library or by making phone calls.  The guide is an opportunity to get familiar with resources before a crisis hits.

He added, “I would like to expresses my sincere appreciation to Jo Packard and the members of the Senior Citizen Advisory Council who compiled the information and whose hard work and expertise are evident throughout the resource guide.”

Guides will be made available to all residents at the locations listed below:

·         Riverhead Town Hall, 200 Howell Avenue, Riverhead

·         Town of Riverhead Senior Citizen Center, 60 Shade Tree Lane, Aquebogue

·         Town of Riverhead Recreation Center, 55 Columbus Avenue, Riverhead
