Riverhead Town Board Celebrates Signing of Contract with Research and Rehabilitation Center

In the midst of the unprecedented opioid abuse epidemic, Riverhead Town officials are pleased to announce that Peconic Care Research, Recovery and Rehabilitation Center has cleared the final steps to begin serving Riverhead and the surrounding communities.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Laura Jens-Smith, along with the Town Board, will be joining the principals of Peconic Care on Thursday morning to officially sign the site plan mylars, the final stamp of approval, of the new research and rehabilitation center being built at Enterprise Park in Calverton.

The project had long remained in limbo, but in less than a month after Jens-Smith took office, the initial site plan approval was granted.  “We have an obligation to address the heartbreaking opioid addiction crisis. Addiction is destroying families and, in too many cases, taking lives.  Peconic Care will not only provide badly needed recovery services but, through their commitment to research, will work to learn more about stopping this deadly trend.”

When completed, the 134,000 square feet facility will provide further benefit to the Riverhead area, contributing to our local economy with the addition of over one hundred jobs.
