The Revitalization goals are to overcome obstacles to redevelopment and return underutilized sites to productive use through tools such as: 

• Use economic data to profile investment opportunities in Riverhead.
• Aid the Town with analysis materials to extend “Community” designation area within the NYS DEC regulated Wild, Scenic and Recreational Rivers Area – providing additional uses that will still protect the Peconic River but that will incentivize redevelopment of previously developed properties. 
• Coordinate potential roadway modifications/ improvements on NYS Route 25 with New York State Department of Transportation to alleviate traffic congestion issues in the downtown, such as signal timing sensors, intersection realignment, and restriping.
• Produce an inventory of historic structures in the locally designated area along 2^nd Street and assist the Local Landmarks Commission with an application for a new residential district on the National Register of Historic Places.
